Entrepreneurs are individuals who create new businesses by bringing creative ideas into light. These individuals try to initiate change in whatever they venture into. This change could come in form of a new product. It could also come through a product that is fresh and unavailable in the market. In other cases, it could be a product that provides solutions to certain problems in society. Entrepreneurs may also provide alternatives to already existing solutions. This creates competition and eventually brings efficiency into the market.

Being an entrepreneur, however, is not just about coming up with brilliant ideas. Although ideas drive the real goal, they only mark the beginning. Individuals must possess certain skills to prepare for what lies ahead in entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship requires more than just ideas. Entrepreneurs must combine several important things together to make ideas work successfully. It is truly a process.

There are different types of entrepreneurs. These types are usually based on personality, background, skills, and community. Different entrepreneurs also have different ways of starting businesses and controlling operations. Although their approaches may differ, they still share certain similarities. Marketing and finance remain common aspects among entrepreneurs. Regardless of how entrepreneurs start businesses, they still need marketing and capital to sustain operations.

In the next sub-headings, I will discuss six types of entrepreneurs. I will also explain how they operate and what makes them unique.

Six Different Types of Entrepreneurs

1. Social Entrepreneur

This kind of entrepreneur aims at solving problems relating to social goals. All the ideas developed by these entrepreneurs center around social problems. They focus on how they can help solve these problems within society.

In most cases, social entrepreneurs usually start non-profit organizations. Their major concern involves the well-being of individuals within society. People sometimes call them change makers because they introduce unique ideas that solve common social problems.

These entrepreneurs do not necessarily work for money or financial benefits. Instead, they focus mainly on the social benefits of communities and the world at large.

2. Innovative Entrepreneur

An innovative entrepreneur is the thinking type of entrepreneur. These individuals develop fresh ideas that may never have existed before. They create brilliant ideas and transform them into business opportunities.

These entrepreneurs remain passionate about what they want to achieve. Their main goal involves inventing things that make life easier and better for people. They consistently develop new ideas to start businesses, operate effectively, and make products stand out in the market. Innovative entrepreneurs are inventors of fresh ideas.

Examples of innovative entrepreneurs include Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Larry Page. These men became popular because of inventions that changed lives and improved society.

Bill Gates started Microsoft and revolutionized the computer era. Steve Jobs started Appe, which remains one of the world’s leading gadget companies today. Larry Page introduced Google, which remains one of the greatest innovations of all time.

Because these entrepreneurs create completely new ideas, they rarely face serious competition during their early business years. Competition also rarely becomes a problem because they continuously create ideas that help them stand out and remain different.

3. Hustler

For this type of entrepreneur, hard work means everything. These individuals prepare to put maximum effort into making businesses succeed. They rarely give up and remain willing to do whatever it takes for business progress.

Hustler entrepreneurs prefer starting businesses on a small scale. They rely heavily on consistent hard work to reach their goals. They do not focus mainly on getting huge capital or large amounts of money. Instead, they believe hard work can achieve success.

To entrepreneurs with hustler mentality, businesses and aspirations serve as strong motivation. They see failure and losses as part of the entrepreneurial journey. Because of this mindset, they rarely abandon businesses because of setbacks.

These entrepreneurs often focus on the bigger picture. That explains why they usually start small with hopes of growing gradually. For them, success depends heavily on hard work, dedication, and persistence.

4. Imitator

People also call these entrepreneurs copycat entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs pick existing businesses and transform them into something different. The transformed business may still serve similar or completely different purposes.

This type of entrepreneurship commonly occurs when only one provider exists within a market. Imitators constantly think about ways to improve existing businesses and make them unique.

A typical example can be seen today with Uber and Bolt. These companies provide similar services but operate differently.

Imitators can also be innovative because they introduce fresh ideas while transforming existing businesses. One important thing about them involves self-belief. They also learn from mistakes made by original business owners.

Although imitators sometimes play catch-up, they usually take easier paths by refining existing ideas instead of creating completely new ones.

5. Researcher

Just as the name implies, researcher entrepreneurs gather enough information before starting businesses. These individuals never rush into entrepreneurship. They carry out detailed research about products, markets, and business operations generally.

Researchers dislike taking unnecessary risks. They only start businesses when they see high chances of success. Failure rarely becomes an option for this type of entrepreneur.

These entrepreneurs carefully plan strategies and reduce room for mistakes. One major advantage researchers possess involves contingency planning. They usually prepare backup plans and think about the future during business planning.

6. Buyer

Buyer entrepreneurs dislike stress and excessive hard work. They usually avoid the process of developing ideas from scratch. They also avoid putting in constant effort to build businesses gradually.

Instead, they prefer buying already existing and promising businesses. Buyer entrepreneurs are mostly defined by their financial strength. They search for promising businesses, research them properly, review viability, and eventually acquire them.

In many cases, buyer entrepreneurs place managers in charge of daily business operations. If they acquire struggling businesses, they take responsibility for changing the business fortune and restoring growth.

Regardless of entrepreneurial type, entrepreneurs generally share one major objective. They aim to start businesses that create change, whether new or existing. Money may not always remain the final goal. However, entrepreneurs still remain ready to do whatever it takes to achieve desired goals and expectations from their businesses.
